Stoneroos nominated for the International ITV Awards 2009

29th September 2009

Every year AFDESI hands out the International iTV Awards to companies who offer innovative products and services for interactive television. The entries are divided in several categories and we are proud to receive a nomination for the iFanzy project in the category "Guide and TV Portal". The competitors in this category will be UPC (Netherlands), Sky Italia (Italy) and NDS (UK). The ceremony will take place during of MipCom in Cannes.

Since the start of Stoneroos, 7 years ago, the company is a leading solution provider for iTV in the Netherlands. During this period, Stoneroos has received 15 nominations (National and International). Eight of them were nominated by the AFDESI jury for the International iTV Awards. Three of them were rewarded with a golden Award, in the categories "Best Enhanced TV service", "Best Interactive Information Program" and, chosen by a selection committee, "Special Prize Winner".

iFanzy is a full personalised electronic programme guide (EPG) and offers the user the possibility to organise the huge amount of digital TV channels, Catch Up TV and on demand TV content.. By using the iFanzy -web or the TV set-top box application, the user will be offered a nice and relaxed evening of TV content that suits the users watching preferences. iFanzy will give personal recommendations, by taking a look at the user's personal interests and individual ratings. By using an intelligent "recommendation engine" iFanzy learns from her users' viewing behaviour and input. Since May 2009 iFanzy is available in a pilot project at Lijbrandt Telecom for digital television in the Netherlands. The web-application is available in a beta version in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and Turkey. Next year there will be a commercial launch in Germany and Turkey, and later that year also in Belgium, Portugal and South-Korea.

A new feature of the iFanzy is the iPhone-application. No longer it's necessary to use a stand alone computer or a single settop box on TV. Always and everywhere the user can ask for the most recent TV listing with of course the personal recommendations. The intension is to launch the beta version of the iFanzy iPhone-application in the fourth quarter of 2009.
